Spring Break Destinations and Ideas: College Spring Break Trips and Kids Spring Break

Spring break is quite possibly the best of all the breaks because it's that much needed interruption from school. Could you imagine going straight from winter break to summer with no break inbetween? It's that encouraging reminder that the school year is almost over and you just have to keep pushing through! But spring break isn't just a break from school, it's an excuse to take a vacation. The number of spring break destinations and ideas is infinite. Forget summer or winter break, college spring break trips are the most important trips of the year. They're what you look back on to remember the good and crazy times of your younger years. And kids spring break are awesome because it gives parents an excuse to travel too.

Of course for any obvious reasons, Hawaii makes the list of top spring break destinations. Take advantage of Disney's Aulani Resort in Oahu, Hawaii and enjoy a fabulous kids spring break. The resort is bursting with activities for all ages to have a great time, together or apart. The entire family will adore the Starlit Hui, a luau-type show with live music, hula dancing, and a Disney character finale. Parents can relish in the Laniwai Spa with its outdoor hydrotherapy garden and menu of alluring spa treatments. The kids will have a blast at Aunty's Beach House, a 5,200-square-foot kids club. Go on down to Ko'Olina beach where the waves are gentle enough for little swimmers. Older kids and adults can rent gear for snorkeling, paddle-boarding, canoeing, and kayaking. The main attraction beloved by all, is the Aulani's pool complex complete with huge water slides, lazy river, and children's fountain/splash area. There's even a manmade lagoon stocked with tons of fish, perfect for younger snorkelers. Take an adventure with your kids this spring break and take a trip to the Grand Canyon, Arizona. You'll experience one of America's greatest natural wonders and won't break the bank having a good time. Rough it in the park's RV campground or stay at a hotel like El Tovar, a hotel that once hosted Teddy Roosevelt and Albert Einstein. While you're there take a donkey up one of the trails, go hiking, or even go rafting! Keep your teen entertained by helicoptering over the canyon or walk the glass skybridge. Walk along beautiful Monterey Bay, California's coast and enjoy the city famed author John Steinbeck so much admired. Stay at the Portola Hotel and Spa where they have 379 newly renovated rooms that overlook California's stunning central coast. This kid-friendly hotel offers a Pirates Program that takes young “cremembers” on scavenger hunts and local explorations. Don't forget to visit the world-class Monterey Bay Aquarium in Cannery Row or the majestic redwood forests in nearby Big Sur. Walk along Monterey's Wharf for a warm bread bowl of clam chowder or try Marini's famous saltwater taffy.

It's the moment you've been waiting for ever since that first day back from winter break – spring break. You're finishing up your last midterms and all you can think about is freedom. Don't get stuck sitting around in your house playing video games or going to the same bars you always do. Plan ahead and get the ultimate spring break experience you'll be telling your kids about (when they're old enough of course). Yeah, there's the big name hotspots like Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, or Negril, but for some on the Ramen diet those places are out of the question. Fortunately, there are plenty of affordable places for your next spring break here in the States. Rising up on the top spring break destinations radar is South Padre Island, Texas. White sandy beaches, sparkling blue water, eccentric hotels and bars that give the city a little bit of spunk – what else could you ask for? Starting in March, join the largest spring party in the nation and party with tens of thousands of friends at the Coca Cola Beach Stage behind the Isla Grand Beach Resort. Daily crowds reach between 12,000 and 18,000 but the fun doesn't stop there. The music and nightlife come alive as soon as the sun goes down and SPI offers a number of bars and clubs to keep you dancing and partying all night long. Although a big name, there's no leaving Las Vegas, Nevada out of a list for top college spring break trips. It's not a typical beach spring location but it makes up for it with its crazy nightlife. It is the ultimate “amusement park for adults” with its flashy lights, big signs – there's no way to not have fun in this wonderland. Take a walk to any of the hotel and casinos nearby for a raging day party at any one of their pools. Party at the top of the Palms for a spectacular, breath-taking view of the Strip. If you're feeling lucky try your hand at the slot machines or tables. Worried about spending too much? Sin City offers a variety of spring break package deals to make your trip more affordable and keep your fun going all night. Remember that Las Vegas isn't for the light-hearted. They don't call it Sin City for nothing. For the ultimate beach spring break, head to Daytona Beach, Florida. They offer hundreds of “student-friendly” hotel options that can fit any size budget. Hotel rates are often per night so spring breakers can fit as many people as possible into a room to keep costs low. The nightlife in Daytona offers great clubs and bars like Ocean Deck Beach Club, the only restaurant and beach club directly on the beach.

Make your next college spring break trip the best one yet. Even if you aren't in college and want to take a fun vacation with your kids, there are a number of places to go for a fun kids spring break. Take your family snorkeling or immerse them in our county's history by taking them to the Grand Canyon. Go make memories and party with your friends until the sun comes up. You don't need to go all the way to Mexico or the Bahamas to have an amazing and memorable time.
